Reversed Loops by Mark Parry

Cassettes of varying tape quality and playing ...Image via Wikipedia

As a child I remember recording onto cassettes.  But I also remember, when a recording got muddled up with each side.  The Aside and the Bside got tangled up with each other.  This is what happens to those that have Asperger's.  Our Aside gets muddled up with our Bside.

You'd also get the cassette tape sides over-lapping each other.  Both sides of the tape would travel backwards, yet they were also moving forwards.  They'd cause friction with each other.  Both sides of the cassette would be in the wrong place, at the wrong time.  This is what you'd call Reversed Loops.  Aspies have this disorganised displacing in time and space.  Our existences as Aspies don't correspond, with that of non-Aspies.  We were born in the wrong places, at the wrong times.

Aspies often feel as if they are on another planet.  But what happens when two planets over-lap, and the Aside and Bside of the tape become confused?  Imagine one side of a cassette containing Rio by Duran Duran, and the other side containing New Life by Depeche Mode.  Both get mixed up on the opposite sides, and rub against each other.  Aspies don't seem to be able to relate to any world.  We were born in the wrong parts of each side of the cassette.
